If you work somewhere that offers a discount on AT&T mobile phone service and have purchased an Apple iPhone, you’ve no doubt found out that your discount doesn’t apply to service for your iPhone.
If you have more than one phone in your plan, the discount will apply to the part of your bill thats for the other phone, but be full price for the iPhone part, so you end up with just a portion of the discount you would have enjoyed if you didn’t have an iPhone.
According to rumors, that may be changing as soon as January 21.
AT&T is expected to announce the acceptance of the iPhone under corporate and business accounts, meaning it would qualify for corporate discounts on service.
There may be some restrictions, like a requirement that the iPhone have a data plan for $25/month or more, but again–its all just a rumor right now.
No discounts are expected on the iPhone itself.
Stay tuned…we’ll find out soon if this is true or not…
UPDATE: It’s official–AT&T has announced business plans for the iPhone. Check out the details here.
